Community support connects patients and families, providing peer mentorship, emotional guidance, and safe spaces to share experiences. Donations strengthen networks, celebrate milestones, and foster a sense of belonging for those affected by PKU, HCU, MSUD, and UCDs/TCUs.
Advocacy
Advocacy ensures patient voices are heard by policymakers, regulators, and healthcare decision-makers. Contributions help us engage with Health Canada, mobilize community input on drug submissions and policies, and raise awareness of challenges faced by those with PKU, HCU, MSUD, and UCDs/TCUs. Your support helps shape a healthcare system that prioritizes rare disease needs.
Research
CanPKU+ supports scientific progress for PKU, HCU, MSUD, and UCDs/TCUs by supporting patient registries, participating in research panels, funding initiatives like HCU Network America's Race for Research, and sharing valuable data with clinical partners. Donations here help accelerate discovery and amplify the patient voice in research efforts.
Education
Education empowers families to manage rare metabolic disorders with confidence. Donations help us create resources on treatment, diet, and lifestyle, host webinars and workshops, share updates on emerging therapies, and ensure families across Canada have access to vital information.
Support
Support donations help strengthen the programs that keep our community connected and able to participate. This includes initiatives such as travel scholarships, community supports, and practical assistance that reduce barriers for individuals and families living with PKU, HCU, MSUD, and UCDs/TCUs. These donations are more community engaging such as Spare for Rare and using the gift card site Flip Give to donate with ease. (And sometimes someone else's $)
We thank everyone who makes donations. We need your help to fulfill our mission. *Please recognize that our pillars often overlap, and funds will be used as close to the option selected as possible. An event, for example, may support any of these pillars depending on the content.
Our status with Revenue Canada is Not-for-Profit. We are unable to provide tax receipts at this time. Read more here. We are working to apply for charitable status if possible. Stay tuned.
