Building Bridges 2026

On behalf of CanPKU+ (Canadian PKU and Allied Disorders Inc.), we are pleased to launch a symposium entitled Building Bridges 2026, which will take place from June 5 to 7, 2026 in Montreal, Quebec.

This invitation is particularly intended for individuals living and working in Quebec, as well as those who will be visiting the region for the Canadian College of Medical Geneticists (CCMG) conference and the Garrod Association symposium.

We wish to ensure strong francophone representation in this year's programming. Bilingual presentations are welcome, and francophone speakers will play an essential role in making the event accessible and meaningful for families in Quebec and across the country.

Building Bridges is the Canadian national conference for families living with PKU, HCU, Maple Syrup Urine Disease (MSUD), and Urea Cycle Disorders (UCDs).

The event brings together patients, caregivers, clinicians, researchers, and partners in a collaborative environment that encourages dialogue, the sharing of expertise, and the recognition of lived experience.

Proposed Themes

We invite presentations on the following topics:

  • Models of partnership with patients and the community
  • Patient advocacy and public policy
  • Research and innovation
  • Registries and data collaboration
  • Lifelong education
  • Mental health and psychosocial support
  • Nourish and Flourish – nutrition, metabolic management, and quality of life

Specific or cross-cutting content related to PKU, HCU, Maple Syrup Urine Disease (MSUD), and Urea Cycle Disorders (UCDs) is encouraged.

Event Location
Centre St-Pierre
1212 Rue Panet
Montreal, Quebec H2L 2Y7

The choice of this community venue in the heart of Montreal aims to create a warm environment that encourages meaningful exchanges between families, clinicians, and researchers.
