Choose the right membership for you
- General Member (GM)
- This membership is used for am individual or family who has a member diagnosed with PKU or another Allied disorder. It will allow for one "admin" or head of family as the primary individual. It will also allow up to 5 additional family members who reside in the same household to be listed under the same membership such as a parent, grandparent, legal guardian, sibling, spouse or child). This will allow all the family members access to things like membership discounts on events.
- Voting Rights: This membership will only allow ONE vote. Only general members 18 years of age and older are entitled to vote. If there are more than one individual in the household who are 18 years or older and would like to have a member vote they must purchase their own membership.
- Professional Member (PM)
- Any professional (doctors, researchers, nurses, dietitians, etc.) who has a link to PKU and other genetic diseases and/or metabolic disorders, has an interest in this or is working in this area.
- Voting Rights: Professional members do NOT have the right to vote.
- Supportive Member (SM)
- Anyone who supports CanPKUs vision and mission and is interested in contributing to its goals.
- Voting Rights:Supporting members are NOT entitled to vote.

Why become a member?
For some things such as advocacy and grant applications our organization is measured by how many members we have in the organization. Your membership helps increase this count and increase our voice. Thank you for considering joining our organization and increasing the volume of our voice!
By becoming a member you are showing your support for CanPKU+ to accomplish its goals, which include:
- Creating awareness about HCU, PKU, MSUD and UCDs;
- Providing a supportive community for those living with
- HCU, PKU, MSUD and UCDs;
- Increasing opportunities for HCU, PKU, MSUD and UCDs families and others to attend educational and networking events;
- To improve the lives of people living with HCU, PKU, MSUD and UCDs;
- Promoting and supporting research; and
- Advocating for increased treatment coverage across Canada.
Becoming a member includes the following benefits to you
- Direct contact from CanPKU+ regarding newsletters and event invitations;
- Direct access to new information regarding treatments, research and Provincial/Territorial advocacy campaigns;
- Support from other individuals and families who understand;
- Reduced registration fees for all CanPKU+ events;
- Eligible for travel bursaries for CanPKU+ events, when available;
- Eligible to receive a $10 discount for How Much Phe;
- Opportunities to volunteer and make a difference;
- Tips on advocacy and creating awareness in your community;
- Voting rights at Annual General Meetings and Special Meetings; and
- Access to documents designed to assist you in claiming the Disability Tax Credit for individuals along with assistance should it be needed in steps to take should you be denied the benefit
- Members only area on the website
- Ability to look up other members in order to build a network of support.
